.

Is this a foreign planet? The great Artic Ocean? No it is my backyard. We were out for a bit and took these great shots. The first one is one of our pine trees and the second is a hawthorn tree. I don't think I would like to be encased in ice like that. I am sure I would look just as beautiful but I would have to take issue with the no way to breathe situation.

So, I heard They are going away, again. Only until the weekend...it is the peacemaker's birthday....yeah,yeah,yeah. I will try to refrain from my usual revenge tactics this time as I do love that gal. I guess a couple of relaxing days are OK, ONCE a year.

As a wee show of my affection, I performed a nice aerobatic display before bed. This is a shot of me in my final position. Balanced so carefully on the bottom of their four poster bed. I was really high and that log is not that wide but I have talent, grace and claws like talons.

Double meme

Double meme

We were tagged by the regal Miss Peach for the following meme. Goldie had completed it before so I, Shade will give it a try.

This meme is created by all of the kitties at petspics.blogspot.com. What three things would you do that you have never done before, if you knew you wouldn't get caught, get in trouble, or suffer any consequences?

1. I want to give this diet food the heave-ho. Now that I realize that this is what they have been feeding me, I find it reminiscent of sawdust.

2. I would like to have warm water and damp soap waiting for me if I want them. My drink of choice is warm water with a twist of Dove. Yes, Dove the soap and not the bird. A good lick of soap on its own is also quite soothing.

3. What was my last one...humm... oh yeah, I WANT MY CLAWS BACK!!!!!!!!!

We were also tagged by handsome Derby for a second meme. Goldie is on this one.

It's an easy one, all you have to do is tell everyone 3 things that are new with you! Link it back to the kitty who gave it to you and Tigmuthep and pass it on to 3 more kitties you'd like to know more about!

1. The first new thing with me is the ice storm we had last night. Very loud with all the wind but the trees look very magical coated with ice this morning.

2. There is a new battle being waged over here in the woods. Me versus the peacemaker. To be more specific, my floofiness versus a pair of nail scissors. I enjoy getting brushed in certain areas but other spots are off limits. Well, with all this floof and lack of proper management I have developed some mats. They are bothering me but I can't bear having any sharp impliments near my mancatly bits, if you know what I mean. She has threatened to bring in "the pros" I am not quite sure what she means by this but it can't be good.

3. I have come up with a new way of showing my irritation and fury when we are left alone overnight or when I don't get outside when I want. I have taken to pooping in the wood box next to the woodstove. It took them awhile to figure it out. The peacemaker walking around sniffing, "Where is that smell coming from?" You know how bad hair smells when it is burnt? Well, I won't go into too much detail but I will say sometimes my aim is not perfect. Hee Hee Hee!!!!!!

I am trying to meet some new cats so I will tag the following kitties as part of my "getting to know you".

1. Whistle
2. Ariel
3. Juniorbabee

Ah, the blue jays come over for a snack. Yes, eat up plump feathered friends. Spring will be here soon and so will be the chase.

The peacemaker received a new bird bath for Christmas and placed it by my look out perch until Spring. How nice of her, I have been practicing my paw & claw skills while she isn't looking.

We have been tagged for a couple of memes and will rest today in thought and tackle them tomorrow.

Shade ~ Why hello there wee one. What? You want to give me a gift for taking care of you the other day? So sweet. A ring? Maybe platinum, white gold would be OK too or... Oh, I see...No, no, I don't have to wear it...I could admire it from afar...alright then. Yes, I see it's yellow to match my eyes. Yellow like pee after you take a vitamin? Well...

Goldie (cuts in, singing) ~ Isn't she looovely....Isn't she wooonderful...

Shade ~ Beat it, furball.

This morning was frosty and calm. A wee one got up early then fell asleep on the couch. I had to do my job, making sure he was OK, keeping him warm. Goldie, on the other hand, is losing his touch...on reality. That meme yesterday had his head in the clouds, wrapped in his flights of fancy. Just now while I was taking care of OUR family I overheard him ask as he came back inside, "Did you get a picture of me peeing in the moonlight?" Pul-eeze!!!!! Believe me, no one wants to see you relieving yourself in the dark. Give your fluffy head a shake.

First Meme

First Meme

This was my first meme and I had to find the perfect resting spot to facilitate the dreams and creative juices!

I was tagged for this meme by a fellow Maritimer and handsome Mancat Mickey.

This meme was created by the charming cats at petspics.

The rules are: you have to post who tagged you and link back to them and then to petspics.blogspot.com.

Then you have to tag 3 other kitties, beans, woofies, or any other assorted animal.

What three things would you do that you have never done before, if you knew you wouldn't get caught, get in trouble, or suffer any consequences?

1. I would like to be able to prey upon any beast of my choosing. Last Fall I was quietly sneaking up on a Canada Goose when the Music Man ran over, making them fly. I bet I could have given it a good thrashing!! I want another chance at it, no holds barred. They may be fast in the sky but on land, slow as molasses.

2. I want to be part of a fox or coyote pack for one day. I want to see how they hunt, where they sleep and what really goes on in the woods around here.

3. I want to drive one of those metal boxes on wheels and go to the beach. I have seen pictures of such a place (see below). I know one is close by as I have smelled the sea air and seaweed on the wee ones when they come home during those days of sun and heat. Get this, it is ALL sand. For as far as your tiny eyes can see. Where to dig? Where to roll? Where to poop?

I tag: Sweet Marie,
Alluring Casey and
Lovely Tesla. Marie and Casey live together but I bet they would do very different things!

Special Sunday

Special Sunday

Another quiet Sunday, resting, napping and eating. I look out the window occasionally, watching for the fox. A pair were by yesterday. The Peacemaker is worried about them being around so much in the middle of the day. They rest under a tree on the wee hill where the kits were born last spring. Maybe she is back to make sure it is safe to have another litter. The kits are very cute though, they fight and roll down the hill together. I look forward to spring.

We were very surprised and honored to receive this special award from our fellow Canuck Kitties, Donny, Marie and Casey.

Thank you so much! It took us awhile to figure out how to pass it on as a Mac is harder to work with, I guess. We would like to pass this award on to the wonderful ginger darlings from across the pond. We have followed their adventures and strolls on the coast of Wales as the Peacemaker and the wee ones lose themselves in the books by Jackie Morris, the one who walks with them. We would not have a blog if it weren't for those gorgeous gingers.

Today was pretty boring until I found a new and interesting toy. Bristles that flossed my teeth, a perfect handle for holding...I may have to leave foam alone for awhile.

It is snowing today and just after I came in from a wee walk, a fox walked right through our yard. I just missed him! I really think he wants to be my friend. We have similar tails but he is oh so red. I think he is my N.O.M.S friend. The PM is not too please with my longing to befriend a wild one though. Talks of making me only go out when They are out. Those wee ones would scare away anything for miles.

They have finally returned from their time in the big city. They come back followed by numerous aromas...exotic food...other cats and rodents...the Nanny. They snuck up on me while I was sleeping so I didn't have time to get my "I am soooo mad at you" and "I don't care if you are back" face on.

I ran outside for a bit, getting ready for some fervent protest furniture scratching and I saw something that stopped me in my tracks. The PM was bringing in TWO bags of crunchy friddles. We always get the blue bag, what's with the orange one.

She informed us that the blue bag was for more rotund cats (sorry Shade). I can't believe they had me on a diet!! Me, a great healthy mancat. No wonder I have been feeling a tad faint. I seemed a little too lean so they are putting me on hairball food. I love a good hairball like the rest of you, but a whole bag of them? What? The food is to stop me from getting hair balls? Oh. That sounds better. I may act too weak to walk up the stairs for a few days. I hope she feels guilty for practically starving me!!!

A confession

A confession

I, Goldie Hawn Solo, am addicted to foam. There, I have said it, it is out. After Shade had mentioned it briefly in her entry, I thought I better come cleam about it as she may hold it over my head. I had a little episode yesterday, not pretty. I love foam. I love to lay on it, smell it, lick it, chew it, eat it, claw it and hold on it tighly and kick, kick, kick. I think it is the squeek it makes as I sink my teeth into it that I love. Reminds me of the small furry creatures I hunt in the summer. The peacemaker has a huge lovely block of it( for stepping nowhere) and I gave it a good goin' over. The wee one's plane was an accident. I tried to resist as I know he'd be upset but it was calling me. They know to put foam items where my paws can't reach but this one was found laying enticingly on the couch. Some would call this a fetish, I call it a joy.

Look at me laugh!

Look at me laugh!

Hello to everyone! I have decided to make a bit of an effort to show the "nice kitty" side of me. I read this blog while Goldie was busy chewing on some foam and realized I am coming off like a bit of a ice queen. Now that more friends are dropping by, I thought I better do some PR. I am vowing to be more nurturing to the apricot idiot, I mean, to the jovial gorgeous mancat. (I think I gagged a wee bit with that.) Anyway, look at me, I am pretty, I am telling jokes, ha ha ha, I am so funny and oh so spontaneous. Ok, that's it. I need a nap and my cheeks hurt. Ba-bye.

Question

Question

Ok, so the Peacemaker has been talking about "losing" something. You would think she would try to find it, that would be the logical thing to do. What she does do is get on this contraption that seems to have wheels but it doesn't go anywhere. What good is going to come out of that? I really have to wonder about these people sometimes. I thought maybe it was some kind of a joke but she is not laughing at all when she's "going nowhere".

Sorry this picture came out crooked, I really can't be cleaning my pants and taking photos at the same time.

Day of rest

Day of rest

Today is a very lazy day here in the woods. I may become mobile a bit this afternoon if the spirit moves me. Yesterday I went out and took a little jaunt around the perimeter. The snow was melting so I could venture out a little further than I have for a couple of weeks. I got chilled and wanted in. Due to noise in the house, my calls and scratches at the door were not answered. I had to crawl through the snow banks on the side on the house, sinking with every step, to reach a window. I peered in and watched but they were in another part of the room. I continued my crawl and reached the far window and had to really stretch. My eyes barely looked over the ledge but a wee one must have felt my pathetic stare as help was sent. I had quite a bit of attention for the remainder of the day but I heard the Peacemaker complain that she should have taken a picture. I'll be more wary next time as I feel she may stage a reinactment.

A sad day

A sad day

Sadness overcomes the home today. The outside tree is getting ready to go back outside to become some protection for the birds and the house is losing a bit of it's color. Yesterday part of my extended feline family passed away, going to where the others have gone before her, where they wait to greet her. She was a city cat, 18 years old. a regal calico. I didn't get a chance to run in the field with her but knew her from her scent when They returned from the forays to the city. Maybe she'll join me now, in spirit. She passed in the arms of loved ones, wrapped in her favorite blanket. I wish for such comfort and peace at the end. I lay close to Shade today, she is the matriarch of the clan now.

The wee-est one got this card during the holidays, I thought it was suiting.

A murder

A murder

The music man donned a pair of snowshoes and brought food out to the crows in the field. In a rush of black wings, claws and caws, a murder desended. They must have been hungry as we have had four snow storms in a week and the snow is thick and heavy. One rested for a moment on his favorite tree, full and happy. I worry sometimes about the forest creatures. I would share my food with them if I could just find some snowshoes to fit my paws. I wonder if there is a snowshoe hare around who is looking for some work.

The nerve...

The nerve...

I realize now that crying to go out at 5 am...in a blizzard...when the peacemaker had a migraine...was not the smartest thing to do. She opened the door and tossed, yes tossed, me out. Like I was burrdock that came in on the wee ones pants. I landed in a snow drift up to my whiskers. Needless to say, I made a quick re-entry and have spent two hours cleaning up. She'll have to deal with the ensuing hairball. I took the above photo as evidence and I was NOT trying to make a snow cat angel and she is now claiming.
