Ledge Worship

Ledge Worship

One kitty.

Two kitties.

Three in the sun.

We are lovin' the fact that the PM cleaned this all off for us. She says it's not all going to be ours but for now we are enjoying it. I thought I would explain why we have two feet wide window ledges. Our house is a cordwood house. The main floor is built with short logs and cement for walls. They say it holds in the heat in the winter and keeps us cool all summer. I just know I love having all the space to sunbathe. Also we are excited that we are now getting sun in here to lay in. Our house is also passive solar which means it is built facing south and the roof is angled a certain way to let all the sun in during the cold months. In the summer, no sun at all comes in these window, keeping the house cool.

OK back to my nap.

We are moving on to our next sign.
This week it is~

Gemini
May 21- June 20

Gemini pets are smart, fun and very playful. They are curious about everything and love toys.

This sounds a lot like my new sister Banshee. Are any other calicos like this?? Sounds like my friend Tesla too.

Is anycat a Gemini or knows a Gemini?

Tune in next week for Cancer.

So this is my first meme.  I'll try my best.

Here are 8 random things about me.

  • I get along well with dawgs and was used in the shelter as a dog tester. I was brought into a room with a dawg and then the staff would see how the dawg reacted. I have no lasting ill effects from the experience. **twitch** **twitch**
  • I am scared of the TV,  guitar and washing machine. The PM says I probably never lived in a house before. Maybe a barn.
  • I am also nervous around the wood stove.
  • I am rather food obsessed, I would like to eat all day long.
  • I like to stir my water like I am making soup, before I drink it.
  • I never had catnip before. The PM gave me a toy that had ancient nip in it and I went totally ballistic.  No fresh nip for me for a long, long time.
  • I headbutt things very hard~ I may need a kitty helmet.
  • I am very very hard on toys. The PM thinks I may need some dawg toys. I had this ball for about 20 minutes and this is what happened.  Goldie had it for three years.

So I guess it is my turn to rattle off some random things about me.

  • I am not too fond of the new wild one at our house.
  • I think she thinks she is better than me.
  • She is suffering from a bad case of horrible manners. I can't use the litter box when she is out without a flippin' audience.
  • The PM made up a bed in a box for me right by the wood stove.
  • I am in love with my box.
  • I plan to hibernate in my box.
  • I need a body guard. Please send help.
  • Did I mention I am not in the "I Love Banshee" fanclub?

First off I would like to send some big purrrs to  MoMo and Moki as they are both not feeling well. Get better soon, friends.

We were tagged by our great friends Sweet Ariel, Loa's Babies and Cory to do the "8 Random Things About Me Meme". Since where was three tags and three of us we will each do one. Since it is Mancat Monday, I will go first.

  • We got some snow.  Lots of snow.

  • I like to go out and use the facilities all winter long.  Especially first thing in the morning.
  • Yesterday, after the storm, the PM tried to open the door for me but the snow was too deep.  This is as far as she could push it.  I am looking at the tracks out there of an animal who walked right by my door. Hmmm.... I wonder who came a callin'?

  • I did not chose to squeeze thru the door to venture mancatly bits deep in snow to do my business. The litter box was the winner that fine day.
  • I come like a dawg ever time the PM calls my name.
  • I have never slept on the couch.
  • I do not have a playroom. I was in the wee one's playroom last week for Wordless Wednesday. The PM took out a bunch of toys and made it Banshee's refuge. I am asking that the room stay like that.
  • The PM has listened somewhat to my request and said she is making a "tree/lounger" for us. Well, she's not, the tool handy Uncle and Grampie are. She's just came up with the idea.  She cleaned out one of our window ledges and the plan is to construct some structure there.  They are making one for the City Cousins too but ours won't be as tall but will be a little spread out. Here is a shot of the ledge all cleaned out. She put some blankets down so there are three beds there for beam napping  while we wait for this thing to be built. It was supposed to have been built this weekend but we had that blasted storm.

We are on the same ledge. Progress.

Today Banshee was supposed to post her Random 8 meme but we will tackle our memes next week as this is very exciting news.

The Little Productions executives have announced their latest  CCSI production.  Should be very exciting, full of suspense.

What is extra exciting for me is that I am in it!!!!!!!

Graphic by Sassy

A detective too. I was thinking maybe I would be a field hand or something as I am just a country cat but no, they saw I had it in me for a fine police cat role.

You can check out the official announcement over at Sassy's. It will air sometime in December. Maybe if I do a good job, the PM will get me the water fountain I put on my Christmas list! Paws crossed.

We are moving on to our next sign.
This week it is~

Taurus
April 21- May 20

Taurus pets are stubborn but dependable. They return affection, appreciate good food and don't like change.

This sounds like me, I do have quite a stubborn streak. Maybe the PM has my birthday wrong after all!!

Is anycat a Taurus or knows a Taurus?

Tune in next week for Gemini.

This is pretty much the scene out here in the woods.

My eyes are starting to hurt.

Just napping by the woodstove all mancatly like.

Sitting "mother cat style".
Propped up by a wee cross stitched pillow.

Mancats don't have to be all "spit, fight and brawl".

Mix Bag Friday

Mix Bag Friday

First of we received some great awards this week.

Our dear sweet friend, Siena gave us these two awards.

Thank you so much you sweet little lady!!!!

Then our other lovely friend, Ariel gave us this pretty award. Thank you so much!

This one came with some rules:

This lovely award is created by Crystal @ Memoirs of a Mommy in honor of Noah and the donor of his sweet little heart who ENCOURAGES us to SHARE THE LOVE! The rules for this award are to pass it along to some people whose blogs you love. They make you laugh, smile, leave encouraging comments on your blog. You would like to share some love with them because they have uplifted, inspired, encouraged or prayed for you. Please include this paragraph with the link to Memoirs of a Mommy so that everyone knows where this award originated from.

We will pass this one to some of our newest friends.

Siena ~ Right back at ya!!! ;)
Fui and Suey ~ You two are always so sweet!
Vampy Victor ~ You and your mama are so crazy!! You make us laugh all the time!!

The news here with Banshee is slow and steady.  We are now on face to face meetings. She is allowed out of the playroom when I am outside.  Before, the PM would put Shade in another room but when she was in a dead sleep, she'd just leave her. Twice, Shade woke up and saw Banshee.  I think she must have thought she was having a dream, or nightmare, as she just stared, frozen to the spot. Here's a shot of one of those moments.  I had a talk with her and explained how this all works and she is now hissing and growling.

Banshee is also coming out when I am inside and calm. I am doing pretty good with her overall. She seems to be at the "I wanna play" stage where I am at the "let me observe you from five feet away" stage.  I'll hiss is she approaches me, makes any sound, tries to walk around me, tries to smell me or looks me straight in the eyeballs.  Other than that; it's all good.

We are also wondering if anycats want to do a Christmas card exchange with us? We have signed up to exchange with some of our furriends already but we thought we would put an invite here for our friends. If you would like to, please send us your mailing address to danica_130 AT yahoo dot com. We will add you to our list and send you our addy too.  How exciting!!!!!!!!

We are moving on to our next sign.
This week it is~

Aries
March 21- April 20

Aries pets are energetic explorers. You can count on them to active, curious and a bit demanding.

A bit demanding? Hmmm... I doubt any of us are demanding. That one must be wrong.

Is anycat a Aries or knows a Aries?

Tune in next week for Taurus.

33 Meows

What's in a name?

What's in a name?

Some cats asked about my name. I thought I would give it some explaination. When I was in the shelter my name was Mama. That made a lot of sense since I had five kittens. The PM decided to change my name as I didn't respond to it, I don't have kittens anymore and the wee ones call her "Mama" too. She said she hears "Mama" about 279 times a day now and that's enough.

Here is the definition of what a Banshee is:

Banshee~ In Celtic folklore, a female spirit believed to wail outside a house as a warning that a death will soon occur within the family. According to tradition, the banshee can only cry for five major Irish families: the O'Neills, O'Briens, O'Connors, O'Gradys and Kavanaghs. The banshee chiefly appears as either a young woman, a stately matron, or an old hag.

Sounds a little spooky but thank Bast these folks are MacNeils and not O'Neills.

When the PM was starting to think up a name for me, the wee lad suggested it be something Halloween-like as they got me a few days after Halloween, I am made up of Halloween colours and I am kind of scary looking at times.

What? Me scary looking?????

Well, Ok, maybe a bit scary looking.

The PM started thinking of spooky, weird, folklore things and as soon as she thought of Banshee, she knew it was right. It sounds nice rolling off your tongue and it can be said quickly in case I am chewing off parts of the furniture. The banshee can appear in different forms which is not unlike me. I have many diverse aspects of my personality (or catality, as the wee lad says) from sweet purring ladycat to raving lunatic.

Also the PM was telling her sister about my name and mentioned the 70's punk band Siouxsie & The Banshees. Her sister said that I looked like Siouxsie Sioux too.

I do look like her but my makeup is au naturel.

33 Meows

Introducing....

Introducing....

Banshee

Hello there everyone. I am taking a few minutes out of my busy day of running, playing, climbing, rolling, marking and swearing to tell you all about myself.

Last May, someone found me and my five kittens out in a field and brought us all to the SPCA Shelter.  I was thankful for somewhere warm to live and food to eat. I raised my kittens up as best as I could and then one by one, they were all adopted into forever homes.  My last son left at the end of the summer and I waited for my turn to come.  The Shelter people made signs up for me as I was one of the longest residents there.

I am a calico, approximately two years old and my markings are a rather unique. A little too unique, some folks say. Looks like I am always hissed off even when I am not. The PM came in and thought I was beautiful.  I was a little shy at first but the PM and her sister played with me and felt that I was going to be a welcomed addition. I really couldn't believe that I was leaving!  I had lived at the shelter for six months.

I was very excited to meet the rest of the family and am slowly warming up to the other cats here. The apricot fella and I ate some Temptations with my door open a bit so we could see each other.  He hissed at me yesterday as I touched his tail as it was under my door a bit. I couldn't resist, that is one floofy tail. I am very close coated and my tail is like a whip.

I better get back to my playing. The mice are getting lonely.

We'll talk more soon.

**** Our special friend, Tesla, is sick and we want to send some purrrrrrrrrs her way! Get better quick, Tesla!!!****

Now for the news at our place.

Yep, you guys got it right. A newbie came into the house on Wednesday night. The PM had offered to take one of her Grammie's cats a couple of months ago, after she passed away but that didn't end up happening. She then got to thinking that if she had room for her Grammie's cat then she should be able to adopt another kitty in need. She also likes having three cats. When she was a teen, they had five cats but with the two wee ones, here, three will have to do.

I now have two sisters. Kind of depressing as I would have liked a cool little bro but them's the breaks. She will make her debut tomorrow. I can't tell you much anyway as I have only seen her briefly and she was swearing like a sailor at the time.

This is where she is living. Behind that colourful door. The PM covered the opening under the door with a blanket so she could settle in for a day or so.

I have kept my eye on the door very closely.

I like to stand here.

When I am feeling a little bushed, I recline on the wee lad's bed but facing the door so as to not miss anything.

I also like this high look out view.

What is going on in there?  You know, she plays "Thundering Herd of Elephants" solo.

Since these photos were taken, the PM has removed the blanket and we are both sniffing at the crack under the door. I have hissed and she has yowled and slapped at the door but all par for the course, I think. Shade appears to be oblivious to the new one. She hears her on occasion then walks around all "owl eyed" but hasn't really looked for her.
