New Harness Skills

New Harness Skills

Things are pretty calm out here in the woods. The cougar hasn't been patrolling and the foxes have pretty much moved on. We are still waiting to hear about our new windows and our trip to the city. The PM is getting a little frustrated as their vacation is coming up and the wee lad's grass allergy is getting into full swing. That means a huge clean up of the house once the windows are installed as pollen will be everywhere. She had hoped that it would be finished by now.

I have to say I am getting a little more used to being in my harness. I move a little easier and I don't do the knee/elbow/belly walk all the time. The PM takes Shade and I for a walk a day. She is talking about building an enclosure next summer. All I have to say is that it better be huge!!!

Here are some pics of me checking out some new additions to the side garden.

Hooray for no more cougar and fox threats! And Yay for you, Goldie, for figuring out the harness is your friend!

Mom is thinking about a screened porch for us as she worries about us, even though we are Not Allowed outside without her.

We have a great new enclosure and we are really loving it. It's about one metre wide by 8-9 metres long.

Good to hear you are getting used to the harness...with all of those big critters around your place it's good to be safe!

Goldie, you are so floofy we can barely see your harness! Enjoy your time outside!

We are glad the foxes and cougar don't seem to be around now. It is good that you are getting used to your harness because you have lots of dangerous animals to be careful of.

Oh Goldie I've missed your apricot floof. I don't like to see you harnessed.

Mum is thinking about getting me a harness soon. Do you think I would like it?

Harnesses steal my bones. Really - I just flop down like all my bones go away!

Well, iffen ya HAVE ta wear a harness, it is good that ya are getting used ta it.

The Big Thing tried one on Ayla, an she just went bat-crazy in it an squirmed out no matter how tight he made it. But she is all triple-jointed and snakey sometimes.

It looks like you are getting very used to it Goldie. As my Mom says: things always cost more and take more time than you planned! Hope you get your windows in soon!

We never liked the sound of cougars and foxes lurking around. Sounds good there gone.

Side garden looks very nice. What's a side garden?

Be careful of those big cats!
The enclosure is probably a good idea!

It's a bummer wearing a harness (we know from experience!) but it's worth it to go out in the fresh air. You look like you're getting used to yours. Anything's better than confronting a cougar or a fox!

Yay for making friends with your harness. I'm still fighting with mine. heh heh

You have a wonderful place to explore!! Mom used to take me out with my halter and we would explore the park right outside my mom's door...then we moved and too many woofies are not properly leashed for me to go out exploring. Seeing you explore may help mom find a way for me to use my halter and leash again...Thanks.

Oh, you are so brave to wear a harness and to go Outside. We don't know if we could do it.

Speaking of travels, Ms. C is going to be going to the same place around the same time to visit her own Mom. She will be meeting up with #1 when she is there too, and maybe you?

A Cougar!!! They are beautiful to look at but we have a few too many around here. Too many buildings invading their territory. The thought of one in close proximity would scare me to death. Ours are up in the mountains and only occasionally wander into populated areas. But there have been some attacks. I think coyotes are bad enough. Most people keep their cats inside now because of the coyotes.

We can only say: even if you don't see the cougar and the foxes, don't ever let your guard down!!!
Once the staff moves into their own house they are thinking of building a huge enclosure for us too... We'll see. And it will be a while...

A nice safe enclosure sounds great! One you have free run of during the day, but can be closed off at night when the critters come out and prowl around. We wish we had one!
