Wild Critter Friday

Wild Critter Friday

Since we have been back, I keep looking out for my fox friends but they are gone. Right after the cougar appeared, the foxes moved into the berm in our front yard. Guess they felt safer being close to the house. They only stayed two nights though then moved on to the deep woods.
The PM was sad to see then go as she loved watching the wee kits grow. She knows it is much safer for them this way though.

The evening they were in the berm, a kit and the vixen were out in the yard and the PM got this little video. She's glad she did as they were gone in the morning. The mom keeps looking towards their den in the back field, wary of the big cat's return.

They are beautiful. What a gift to be able to watch them interacting so naturally. Mom saw foxes three times in her life and naturally (here in the city) they were always on the run. It's a shame though that this makes it dangerous to go outside for you guys!
Have a nice weekend!

What a great video! #1 loves foxes! There was a family under her shed on the Island this summer and the kits even came up on the deck!

We hope these will be safe!

How lucky you are to have those foxes! We have some squirrels, birds, and coyotes way off in the distance, but nothing as pretty as those.

What a beautiful video!

Mom says to let you know there is not another floor above the hallway. We too have a downstairs bathroom that could us a solar tube but mom is not willing to give up what little closet space there is upstairs. If we had bigger closets she'd do it in a second.

Wow! Nice capture of the vixen and kit! Typical family with the mother all concerned and on the look out, while the child fools around and hangs off the mother!

Beautiful creatures.

How cool! Speaking of wildlife, my cousin Becky (Becky's Barnyard) posted a pic of a possum playing dead in her yard. They have fox there, but they don't see them often -- you are very lucky!

Wow! You had an actual cougar in your area? We've only seen them in pictures, but our Mom has seen them at the zoo:)

Glodie, Shade and Banshee,

WOWWW!!! We've never seen frolicking foxes before! They are so elusive, we rarely see any here in the city. Once though in the dead of winter we saw one walking along the railroad track that runs right behind our townhouse. They are such beautiful creatures. They almost look like cats when they are playing!

I just love your foxy video. When my mother was alive, (living in England) she used to have a den of foxes at the back of the garden that was full of bushes and faced on to a field. They would play by the hour on her back lawn. No need to worry about cougars there.

They are very cute! It would be cool to see that big cat, but we wouldn't want him hanging around for long.
