The end of last week I could have sworn that Spring was well on it's way.
I spent some time in the front flowers beds and even saw some green sprouting.
Goldie was out rolling in the brown grass and trying to bake on the walkway.
The PM was excited that she could go out in just a sweater and sneakers.
That all changed yesterday. We had a storm all day and are looking at about a foot of snow this morning. How depressing. The PM didn't even want to take a photo.
The only good thing about it was that the storm brought a bunch of new birds to our feeders, looking for a bit of respite.
I like birds and not the same way Goldie and Banshee like them. I envy their capacity of flight and their ability to make music.
Yesterday we hosted Fox Sparrows, Song Sparrows, Tree Sparrows, Chickadees, Dark-Eyed Juncos, Grackles and a flock of Red-Winged Blackbirds. The PM had the wee ones on the look out for new birds. The wee lad has his own birdbook and it got lots of use.
We are hoping this mess melts very, very soon.

You're a regular ornithologist, Shade. We got our google on and had a look at some of your visitors- the chickadees are so cute! The red-wing blackbirds are very impressive. It's great that the wee man enjoys looking at the birds with you :)
Sorry to hear about the sudden weather change ... that stinks after being able to enjoy the nice weather for a bit. Hopefully spring will return soon.

Hi Banshee. We have some of all those birds here, too...some of them are waiting for your weather to get nicer so they can head home; others of them live here. We had a white throated sparrow on the feeder yesterday, trying to hop and scratch the way he would on the ground. We sure hope that snow melts soon and you get some real Spring weather!

Our mom loves snow but we didn't get much this year in the high desert. Hope your springtime comes soon for you! We have some birdies building a nest under the eaves of our place! Chittering time!
Spring disappeared here on Sunday, but it's back today. We think that it's just mean for Old Man Winter to fool us like that!
Oh the old weather does not know what to do this year. Lets hope for some spring weather for you soon.

Oh you poor guys. We've been lucky here in Kentucky we've just had some cold weather, no snow.
Oh my goodness! what adventures there have been at your house this week! My momma would have vomited had she eaten the chippie! hahah

That look very nice, but then we saw all the snow. Ouch. Here the weather is very nice.
Hart likes to go out in the snow...and says he is wearing snow boots anyway.
I think he is nuts. Bird watching is better from inside anyway.
